Cole & Butler is a Moree-based law firm, deeply entrenched within its regional community.
The firm is the direct successor to a practice established by P.E. Stirton on the same site in 1890. It has had several changes of name – Stirton & Moodie, Moodie, Cole & Co., W.A. Cole & Sons and Cole & Butler. Its present Managing Partner, Roger Butler AM, has been with the firm for nearly 60 years.
The firm practises in all fields of law (with the exception of admiralty – law of the sea). Although the majority of the firm’s work is civil and commercial – wills, probate, succession planning, small business – it does also have an extensive criminal law, family law and civil litigation practice ranging from the High Court, Federal Courts and down to the Local Courts and associated Tribunals.
To service its clients in northern New South Wales and southern Queensland, the firm has two aeroplanes (including a twin engine Partenavia) travelling as far afield as Charleville in the west, Griffith in the south, Ballina in the east and Rockhampton in the north.
